Holiday Information

The region of Campania is very well known for its archaeological and cultural treasures, featuring above all the Roman ruins of Pompeii, the island of Capri and the stunningly beautiful Sorrento and Amalfi Coasts. Especially the latter has recently become one of Italy’s most sought after walking destinations, with its spectacular landscape of high vertical limestone cliffs dotted with little villages clinging to the steep rock faces and the many terraced gardens and lemon groves. All these reflect in the shimmering Mediterranean to form a unique mix of nature and culture, rightly protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During this tour you will explore the most beautiful and spectacular foot paths the Amalfi Coast has to offer, amongst which the best known and rightly famous Pathway of the Gods. You will be walking on rocky tracks through wild mountain scenery as well as descend ancient medieval staircases connecting the many little hamlets dotting the mountain slopes. Your route will take you through Mediterranean woodlands and maquis as well as groomed olive and lemon groves. Walking up into the mountains or down to the sea you will have the opportunity to regularly pause with a cup of coffee or a cappuccino in the little squares and alleys of the villages you are passing through.
Several of the villages you will encounter during your walks beg for some more time to be explored. From lively Amalfi with its splendid Duomo, over mundane Positano and quiet Ravello with its landscaped gardens, there is no shortage of colourful sights to see. You can walk amongst the ruined water mills of Amalfi’s Mill Valley as well as admire the soaring mountains when transferring over water from Postiano to Amalfi. And of course you should enjoy the sun while lazing on the beach at the end of a tiring walking day.
During your holiday you will stay in a simple but cosy agriturismo in the little village of Bomerano, high above the Mediterranean, an ideal starting point for your first days’ walking. Here dinners – rigorously home cooked by your hostess - will be served in the accommodations restaurant. Later on you will transfer to Amalfi itself where you stay in a stylish hotel in the middle of town, the best way to experience what Amalfi is all about. From your hotel the many restaurants of the town are just around the corner.
